Project Overview
An Ultra-Low Temperature Cold Storage facility maintains temperatures from -40°C to -100°C (commonly -80°C to -86°C), dedicated to long-term preservation of biological samples, vaccines, plasma, pharmaceuticals, and high-end research materials. It employs cascade refrigeration or auto-cascade systems for stable ultra-low temperatures, preventing loss of sample activity.
Design Features
- Refrigeration System: Dual or triple-stage compressors with eco-friendly refrigerants (e.g., R404A/R23 mix), backup units, and liquid nitrogen redundancy.
- Insulation Structure: Extra-thick VIP vacuum insulation panels (200-300mm), stainless steel interior, anti-frost and anti-condensation design.
- Monitoring & Safety: Multi-point sensors, CO₂/oxygen alarms, remote monitoring, auto-defrost, and emergency power.
- Racking Layout: High-density multi-tier shelves made from low-temperature resistant materials, supporting automated access.
Key Applications
- Vaccine Storage: mRNA vaccines (e.g., COVID-19) require -70°C to -90°C for global cold chain distribution.
- Biobanks: Long-term storage of blood, tissues, and cell lines for research and clinical use.
- Pharmaceuticals: Preservation of biologics, enzymes, and antibodies, complying with GMP standards.
- Plasma & Blood Products: Ultra-low storage after flash freezing to retain active factors.
- Premium Food: Ultra-low preservation of high-end seafood like tuna, maintaining fresh texture and taste.
Ultra-low temperature cold storage is vital for biopharmaceutical cold chains, supporting vaccine distribution and life sciences advancement.
